Tags are less structured than folders, but more structured than natural forming links. Tags are great when you searching with an intent to find notes for a genre or general topic across all folders and links.
Some of the tags here have index notes like this one associated with them for improved navigation, but a lot of the tags are junk or have a very specific scope. They will be updated slowly but surely.
A lot of tags also have subtags. My note - taking app treats tags like folders in that tags can have parents and children ( computer science terminology ). For example, you can have a tag #pets/cats/Oreo
, where Oreo is a cat, but ALSO a pet
For Thought/Zettelkasten notes, I used the seed ⇒ sapling ⇒ tree method, see their respective notes.
For my Academic Writing notes and study(although more general purpose), I use mostly todo ⇒ working ⇒ none, to help me manage working priority.

For all my Computational Neuroscience related notes and thoughts. This contains work on the theoretical, biological, and computational methods within the field.

For Neuron related notes. This consists of different kinds of neurons, but also parts of the neuron like the Dendrites
For notes relating to neuronal Dendrites, but also different kinds of dendrites found across the brain.
For all things computer science! I am a computer scientist by heart and it is my greatest skill, although now I am moving this skill set to solving problems in neuroscience.
- theory focuses on mathematical automata, namely Deterministic Finite Automata, context free grammars, regular expressions, and Turing Machines
- embedded is for embedded engineering stuff, namely ESP32 and Raspberry Pi

For notes that are generated in most part or entirely with large language models.
While I am one who values origional writing ( as is the case with having a vault like this), LLM’s provide useful utility for placeholder notes and study guides for exams.
Somewhat similar to what a seed/idea is, but serves as a documentation of my own feelings and experiences, working primarily with my daily note journal logs. These are mostly private, but I have some set to be public if I think they might be meaningful to others.

I dont actually have OCD, but I have a tendancy to get obsessed with optimization and complexity. This usually manifests through phenomena like Yak Shaving, but oftentimes also just comes in the form of having too much stuff that I really want to do. My Kanban board helps me with this

This was a random idea at one point, but after returning to it a few times I realized I could expand on it and make this something that I actually am invested in investigating/researching. Oftentimes these will be cool concepts posed to me by research papers, or youtube videos.
Think of these like “permanent notes” from the Zettelkasten method.
This could be anything. A random OCD idea that came to me on a whim, a youtube video I watched, or an opinion about life that I have the keen desired to write down.
That is the point. To write down everything that comes to mind so that it is not lost to our innate memory compression cycle. These exists either to be recorded and left alone, or to returned to at a later time and expanded into a sapling.

Simply dictates a note that I plan to complete, or one that I have been working on for a while but that has not been finished just yet.

A funny little focus management tool I use
working is the next step of a academic notes’ lifespan after the todo tag. I use this because a lot of the time I write down a decent amount of information and get a note to a complete state, but come back later and realize so much more can be added.
