The Anterior Hypothalamus is primarily responsible for body temperature regulation( cooling in particular ). It does this by utilizing special temperature sensitive neurons which can detect and respond to changes in body temperature, and elicit response behavior like sweating.


Structure

It is situated roughly above the optic chiasm and its continuation of the preoptic area.

It includes a few notable Nuclei:

  • anterior hypothalamic nucleus
  • suprachiasmatic nucleus
  • paraventricular nucleus
