A term loosely used to describe the area of the brain superior to the optic chiasm. These structures are located in the forebrain to the front of and below the striatum.

Some of the components of the Basal Forebrain Include:

  • Medial Septal Nuclei
  • Nucleus Accumbens
  • Anterior Hypothalamus
  • Diagonal Band of Broca
