For the last 40 Years of my grandfathers’ life, Molly was his passion project.

This was not something that involved any other person in his life. He taught himself Calculus, Physics, Advanced Engineering, and every other kind of technical skill to build a boat entirely from scratch.

Even the sails, which are such a complicated kind of craft, he specially designed for his exact boat, the exact way he wanted it.

Now of course, as all things Axel, it was a complete mess on the inside, given that he had to have every tool he needed right at hand. And you can be damn sure he had at least 12 back scratchers in every crevice of that thing.

But, the summer before his passing, he had finally completed it enough for its launch. This was hard to believe, as he had been saying that it was almost ready to launch for about 10 years at this point. However, he meant it his time.

Unfortunately, there was no way we could keep this beautiful piece of art in the water with nobody else to take care of her. However, I am happy that Molly got to see water with her creator at least once before she found a found a new home back on land.

May she forever represent a man’s life and dedication to such a beautiful craft, and as proof that a single person can do and learn everything necessary to build and maintain such a complex system of specialization
