typically found in the Cerebellum, they are massive, very branched Inhibition Neurons.

  • serve as the “sole output” channel of teh cerebellar cortex and play a large role in the job of motor coordination, balance, along with cognitive processing
  • very distinctive pear shaped Soma, and an extremely large Dendrite tree.
  • each cell receives an enourmous number of inputs, with some going up to 200,000 parallel fiber Synapses from granule cells and a powerful input from a single climbing fiber
  • they release GABA for surpressing/inhibiting the deep cerebellar nuclei.
