Bromantane (Ladasten) is an atypical dopaminergic that works by upregulating tyrosine hydroxylase; rate-limiting enzyme in dopamine synthesis , rather than forcing release or blocking reuptake. This means it increases the capacity for dopamine production without directly hitting receptors or causing depletion. The effects are subtle: mild dopaminergic boost that primarily manifests as enhanced and smoother stimulant response with reduced anxiety when combined with psychostimulants. The key property is that benefits outlast a 28-day course significantly; upregulation persists for weeks to months after stopping. The downside is increased punding/stereotypy when combined with stimulants: getting stuck on tasks or repetitive behaviors, which is manageable and sometimes useful for deep work but worth monitoring.
Punding with stimulants is the main side effect. Effects are subtle standalone but meaningful in combo.
