Formal Experiment Design

We define our trials as a set of all trials $n$, where $n\ge 10$:

$$T=\{T_1,T_2,\dots ,T_n\}\in {\mathbb{Z}}^{\ge 10}$$

Each trial is defined as a 5-tuple:

$$T_n:=\left\{P_n,P_n\in C,P_n\in T,\frac{P_n\in C}{P_n},\frac{P_n\in T}{P_n}\right\}$$

Where:

• $P_n$ is the total # of Paramecia
• $P_n\in C$ is the total # of Paramecia in the Control
• $P_n\in T$ is the total # of Paramecia in the Test
• $\frac{P_n\in C}{P_n}$ is the proportion of Paramecia in the Control
• $\frac{P_n\in T}{P_n}$ is the proportion of Paramecia in the Test

Constants:

• Duration = $2.5$ minutes
• Distance = $\frac{1}{4}$ inch
• Count = $3$ drops
